Hey I know it's a bit late but I'd like to respond to the questions you left on my page. For starters, I make my 3d robots and models and a software called Cinema4d - [link]. If 3d is something you're thinking about giving a shot I'd suggest you make an account over at cgtalk.com because their forums are a great resource. They list a lot of tutorials and if you approach your questions in a sensible way, you can get some really good user feedback. Well I hope this helps and it's somewhat of a starting point for your exploration with 3d.
